——————————————————
Leaving Luofu Mountain and traveling south for several hundred miles, there is another city.
There were willow trees on both sides of the road. Liu Yan was sitting next to Shen Jue. Just as he was about to say that the scenery was beautiful, a gust of wind suddenly blew by, and the willow branches above his head swayed, shaking off a few fallen leaves.
One leaf can herald the coming of autumn.
It’s already autumn.
They traveled slowly along the way, and before they knew it, two months had passed since they left the mountain. Liu Yan played with the willow leaves in his hand and asked Shen Jue where he was. Shen Jue said, “It seems to be Yongcheng ahead . “
Yongcheng . I actually revisited the old place.
They had no destination in mind. They just went wherever they liked. When they reached a fork in the road, they went wherever they saw the most beautiful scenery. The road was bumpy, but it brought them here—the place where they met and got to know each other. Perhaps there was a will of heaven. Liu Yan turned around, smiled at the person who was napping in the car, and said, “Yi Mo, Yongcheng is ahead . “
Yi Mo muttered, “Why are you here?" and lazily told Shen Jue, “Go into the city."
After entering the city gate, there were scattered pedestrians on the street, some were travelers carrying bags, some were peddlers carrying goods, some were cooks carrying firewood into the city… More than two hundred years have passed, and the city does not seem to have changed at all. There are yamen runners standing in front of the county government office, the shouts of peddlers are floating in the streets, the melon stall is still the same melon stall, the tea stall is still the same tea stall, and the city tower is still the same as before, but a little old.
Over two hundred years have passed, and nothing has changed, except that no one in this city knows him or anyone he knows anymore. Things and people have truly changed.
Liu Yan stood under the tree for a moment, then walked to an inn according to his memory and stopped. The inn was still the same inn, the plaque had not changed a single word, and like everything in this city, the craftsmanship was passed down from generation to generation, but the old shopkeeper with a rosy face in his memory had become a young man in his prime behind the counter.
The three of them ordered a few side dishes. Liu Yan asked the waiter standing nearby, “Do you have any more apricot wine?" The waiter answered loudly, “Yes."
The wine was served, and each of the three people had a glass. Even the taste was the same, sour and spicy, but with a mellow sweet aftertaste.
These things are passed down from father to son, and from son to son, from one generation to the next, and from one generation to the next. The old die and the new are born.
If there is no major upheaval, these things will be passed down for thousands and thousands of years, like the alternation of the sun and the moon, unchanged forever.
They all live in the same place where their ancestors once lived, working hard, laughing and harvesting. The minor changes can be ignored.
Liu Yan wanted to go to Shen’s house to see what the situation was like there.
After leaving the inn, Liu Yan walked in front, passed through Wuyi Lane, went around the Amphibious Bend, and walked across Qingfeng Bridge – this bridge was built with silver he donated. He walked for a while in the shady alley and finally stood in front of the gate of the courtyard where he once lived.
The ring buckle on the vermilion door was still a lion head buckle. Liu Yan looked back at Yi Mo and Shen Jue, with a hint of homesickness in his eyes.
“Knock on the door." Yi Mo said.
Liu Yan grabbed the door knocker and knocked on the door without hesitation.
The one who came out to greet them was the owner of the house. He glanced at them through the gap, and for some reason, there was a look of ecstasy on his face.
“Sir, are you a traveler?" The middle-aged man’s joy lasted only a moment, and he quickly regained his composure. His facial features were beautiful, his eyebrows and eyes were calm and composed, and he looked relaxed.
Even at his age, his eyes were clear, not the cloudy eyes of ordinary people. After seeing the three people’s attire, he was able to determine their identities.
When going out for fun, one naturally cannot hide one’s figure, so even Yi Mo tied up his hair and dressed casually, as he did not want to attract attention and ruin his fun.
“Yes," Liu Yan bowed and said, “I’m tired from walking, so I’d like to have a bowl of water. Sorry to bother you."
The middle-aged man welcomed them in, into the main hall, and prepared a formal meal, prepared drinks, and personally accompanied them. This kind of warm hospitality was somewhat inexplicable.
Seeing their confusion, the host said, “To be honest , my wife is expecting a baby, and according to local customs…"
Before he finished speaking, Liu Yan understood and waved his hand to indicate that there was no need to explain in detail. He still understood this custom. According to Yongcheng ’s custom, on the first day of the month when the child is to be born, the first guest who comes to the house, regardless of whether he is a relative or a traveler or a merchant, will give birth to a boy if he is a man, and a girl if he is a girl if he is a woman. It may not be accurate, but it is the local custom. So their family came to the house on the first day of the month and they were the first guests of the house.
What a coincidence.
But how could such a big house not have any guests even at sunset? It was strange. Seeing that the host was very generous, Liu Yan thought he would not be too formal, so he asked.
As expected, the host said, “It’s strange. In the past, there were always guests coming to the door even when there was nothing to do. But today, at this time, no one has come yet." He said to himself, “It seems that my unborn child is really destined to have these three guests."
Liu Yan also felt that it was predestined. With this happening, the four of them sat at the table and relaxed, drinking and chatting . As they were talking, Liu Yan remembered to ask, “What’s your name, old gentleman?"
“Ah," the host just remembered that he forgot to introduce himself, and suddenly felt a little embarrassed, and hurriedly said, “My last name is Shen."
“…Shen?" Liu Yan instinctively looked at Yi Mo beside him, then at Shen Jue, with a strange look on his face, “Could it be that the family was ordered to be executed…"
“That’s right," Mr. Shen said with a smile, “Although the guest is young, he knows a lot."
Liu Yan looked at his face, not knowing whether it was because he had psychological support, but vaguely saw the shadow of Shen Hai – Shen Hai from that face. Unexpectedly, he met a descendant of the Shen family. Liu Yan was a little overwhelmed and sat there in a daze . At this time, Yi Mo said: “My son’s surname is also Shen."
Shen Jue was pushed out for no apparent reason. Although he was puzzled, he was able to counter the move and quickly saluted and said, “I am Shen Jue ."
Mr. Shen was stunned for a moment: “Shen Jue?" This name is really familiar, as if I have heard it somewhere, but I can’t remember it for a moment. I can’t help but look at Yi Mo again. Seeing that he has an extraordinary aura, it is really hard to tell that he is the father of such a big child. I also think that this is a private matter, so I can’t ask it out loud. I can only smile and say: “It’s really fate. I don’t know where you three are going. If you are not in a hurry , why don’t you stay here for two days, I can also do my best to be a good host."
Liu Yan had originally wanted to take a look around this house , and since the owner had asked him to stay, he agreed. He would stay for two days, walk around the city, and then continue on his way.
After sitting at the table and chatting for a while, Mr. Shen called the servants to take the three of them to the guest room.
The three of them followed a young servant and walked slowly, looking around. It was a completely unfamiliar house, with pavilions, towers, waterside terraces, lotus ponds, peach groves, small pavilions, and beauty galleries, all stacked up layer by layer and unfolding one by one.
Perhaps it was not easy for the Shen family to regain their reputation, and who knows how much effort they put into buying back this old house and rebuilding the garden. The Shen’s house became the Shen’s house again.
of this house has changed.
Suddenly, he smelled a faint fragrance along the way, floating in the air, sometimes far away, sometimes near. He didn’t know what flower it was. Liu Yan stopped and asked the servant what the fragrance was.
The servant sniffed and said, “It wasn’t there before, and I don’t know." Liu Yan was even more curious and wanted to find out. The servant was also a little curious, because he knew they were honored guests, so he didn’t treat them lightly, so he ran to ask someone, and after asking a few questions, he found the housekeeper. The housekeeper hurried over, waved away the servant, and took the three of them to find the source of the subtle fragrance.
After walking along the lotus pond for a while, you will come to a path, and behind the path is a nunnery.
Liu Yan stopped in front of the nunnery. Although the nunnery had been renovated and was no longer the same as before, he recognized it at a glance. This was the place where his mother practiced Buddhism more than two hundred years ago when he was still Shen Qingxuan.
there are some lush orchids. At this time of the year, these orchids have buds, and although they have not bloomed yet, they are already giving off a subtle fragrance.
The housekeeper was also surprised and said quickly: “These are orchids that were shipped from the south two years ago. They have been planted for more than a year and have never bloomed. We thought we had chosen the wrong flower type, but unexpectedly they bloomed today." He added: “The three of you are really destined to be with my family." After saying that, he quickly took them to rest and hurriedly reported to the master.
The master and servant thought for a long time, and finally Master Shen said, “There are no guests today, and because of their arrival, the orchids are in bud. These three people are extraordinary. Even if there is something, it should be a good omen. Maybe it is a metaphor for something, but how can you and I guess it." After saying this, he smiled freely, waved the butler away , closed the door, and picked up the book again.
After reading two lines, a thought suddenly flashed through my mind: Shen Jue, isn’t he the great general beside Emperor Chen Wen?
When his grandfather was alive, he told him that this general was a member of the Shen family. Or in other words, he was not a human.
This secret was naturally passed on to the eldest son, who was the 19th generation grandson of the Shen family.
Although he felt suspicious, he did not hesitate. Mr. Shen opened the door and hurried towards the Shen family ancestral hall.
In the newly rebuilt ancestral hall, the ancestral tablets were all placed in place, and the newly trimmed and transcribed family tree was also kept in a box.
Mr. Shen opened the wooden box, took out the family tree, and read it carefully. He stayed in the ancestral hall for an hour, and then hurried to the villa and knocked on Liu Yan’s door.
Liu Yan’s family of three were discussing the affairs of the Shen family. Sure enough, the current Mr. Shen is the grandson of Shen Hai. When Emperor Chen Wen died, Shen Hai also died the following year. At that time, Shen Hai’s eldest son had been an official for five years and had been serving in the Prince’s Palace. When Emperor Chen Wen died, the prince ascended the throne. In just ten years, he completed his father’s lifelong wish and redressed the Shen family’s century-old grievances.
However, from then on, there was one more thing added to the family motto: no one, descendant or grandchild, was allowed to enter the officialdom.
Just as he said this, there was a knock on the door.
Yi Mo seemed a little helpless. He rubbed his forehead and said, “The Shen family is all difficult to deal with." With a wave of his hand, the door opened by itself.
Liu Yan heard some meaning in his words, looked at Master Shen outside the door, thought for a while, and then sat still.
Master Shen walked in and looked at Shen Jue carefully. After a long while, he asked, “But what about the General Shen who suddenly handed over the tiger talisman and then disappeared from the world?"
Shen Jue had figured out what the two fathers meant. He paused and said, “That’s right."
Mr. Shen knelt down.
If it was the other two people he was kneeling on , he would have given up, but it was Shen Jue who was kneeling, and there were two elders pressing on his head, so there was no way he could get up. He quickly looked at Yi Mo and said, “Father."
Yi Mo ignored him.
Shen Jue said again: “Dad."
Liu Yan waved his hand: “It has nothing to do with me, please do as you please."
It was these two calls that made Mr. Shen, who was kneeling on the ground, suddenly enlightened. He looked up at Yi Mo and asked, “Is this… your surname Yi?"
Yi Mo hummed and said, “Get up."
Mr. Shen stood up. The four people in the room understood what was going on in their hearts, so there was no need to say more.
Liu Yan stood up and said, “We should go."
Mr. Shen looked at him and asked, “Young Master, your surname is Liu?"
Liu Yan said: “You can also take the surname Shen."
Master Shen was about to kneel again, but Liu Yan held him up with one hand and said calmly, “My life was hard-earned. Although there are past events, I have already let them go. Considering your age, I am afraid that kneeling by you will shorten my life."
In a few simple words, Mr. Shen is in a bad position to kneel or not to kneel. If he does not kneel in front of his ancestors, isn’t he an unfilial descendant?
Liu Yan laughed, “You should know that I am not someone who is bound by etiquette and customs. Why should I bother about such a small matter?"
Mr. Shen naturally thought of the story passed down in the family, that the eldest grandson of the thirteenth generation of the Shen family had a blind date with a demon, and they were like a couple, and raised a son.
Mr. Shen responded and stood aside before asking, “Where are you going?"
“I don’t know." Liu Yan said. He was telling the truth, but the listeners thought he was deliberately hiding something. However, he could do nothing about it. Even if he wanted to serve, how could it compare to the joy of being in the vast sea and sky? In his mind, these three people were all semi-immortals, so he didn’t dare to restrict them. He just said, “We agreed to stay for two days before leaving. Why don’t you want to stay?"
“I’m used to being at ease." Yi Mo said, raised his eyebrows and looked at his fear and trepidation, and said, “Goodbye."
Shen Jue went over to open the door, and the three of them filed out. Just as they took a step, they heard Master Shen behind them say, “Master Yi, please stay. I have something to tell you…"
“What’s the matter?" Yi Mo asked.
“The Shen family suffered a disaster back then, and part of the family tree was damaged during the escape. When it was revised…"
“Um?"
“My father put your name next to our ancestor Shen Qingxuan. …I wonder if that’s okay?"
Seeing the three people in the courtyard all had strange expressions, Master Shen became really panicked and said quickly: “It’s because the three words ‘widow’ on the stone tablet in the mountain have not faded away despite the rain and wind, so my father made the decision…"
Yi Mo interrupted him: “Okay."
“What?"
Yi Mojing stood there and repeated it seriously: “Very well!"
As he said this, he looked at Liu Yan, who was also looking straight at him. Their eyes met, and there was a smile in both of their eyes.
I have truly seen thousands of mountains and rivers, and finally closed my eyes and sighed – so you are here!
