Snake Encounter 2·12

————————————————

his body was hugged, Ji Jiu stiffened involuntarily. Although he had no disgust in his mind, his body subconsciously recorded the hurt and humiliation Yi Mo had given him on countless nights. He froze in place uncontrollably, sticking there like a straight thorn, stabbing others and himself. Yi Mo’s arms obviously hesitated for a moment, and then he hugged him tighter .

Ji Jiu was still motionless, as if he had lost the ability to resist or walk away. Yi Mo stroked the back of his neck and let him lean on his shoulder. His hand returned to its original position, holding his waist and pressing his back. He used an undeniable gesture to place the man in front of him. Finally, this gesture solidified and never moved again.

It was such a time-freezing hug that Ji Jiu’s stiff muscles became slightly more active, and the limbs in his arms showed signs of softening. After his whole body relaxed, Ji Jiu sighed faintly. Then Yi Mo moved, he turned his face slightly , and his cool lips brushed across his cheek. It was more like a breeze blowing over flowers than a kiss.

Ji Jiu blinked, but felt that this touch was like a dream or reality, and he couldn’t even tell whether it existed or not. Looking at Yi Mo, there was some confusion in his eyes.

As if to confirm something, Yi Mo kissed him again, still with his lips lightly brushing against his, and then immediately withdrew his kiss and looked at him cautiously.

Ji Jiu’s eyes were wide open. In the cautious scrutiny, he dodged backwards, as if retreating, but his waist was tightly bound. He had nowhere to retreat, so he could only lean back. When Yi Mo leaned forward, he leaned back two points. His snow-white middle garment was adorned with the endless moonlight. His leaning back chest and his waist, which were forced to be fixed, stretched out a beautiful arc of the moonlight. In Yi Mo’s eyes, this scene was extremely bright and vivid. Every inch of his hair, even the hair that was blown in the wind, was dancing vividly.

Yi Mo said: “Ji Jiu."

Ji Jiu looked up at the person above him, his breathing became disordered. He heard him calling him , but he could not make any response. He just looked at him, staring into the other’s bright and deep eyes.

Yi Mo leaned forward, put his arm around his waist firmly, and said seriously, “Ji Jiu, you’re going to fall."

Ji Jiu suddenly came to his senses, turned his head and found that he was only a few feet from the ground. He quickly used his waist strength to get up, but was pressed down by Yi Mo. Ji Jiu’s face suddenly turned red, raised his hand to grab his shoulder, pinched it tightly, and said in a deep voice: “You did it on purpose!"

Yi Mo neither denied nor admitted it, a smile flashed in his eyes, but Ji Jiu caught it with his quick eyes and hands. Ji Jiu pinched his shoulder, stood up with all his strength, and then glared at him with a red face. Yi Mo was stared at, but he was also calm . Ji Jiu thought for a long time but couldn’t think of a way to control him. After a long while, he turned around and left. He walked a few steps, suddenly stopped, and without turning around, he raised his wrist in a large arc under the clear moonlight, and wiped his face that had just been kissed, once, twice, three times, the amplitude of the movement was so large that the people behind him could clearly see what he was doing. After wiping three times, he continued to move forward, turned around the courtyard gate, and the snow-white figure disappeared outside the door.

Yi Mo stood there blankly, looking at the path where the figure had disappeared. He looked for a long time before turning around and muttering to Xiao Bao who was hiding in the house watching the show, “He has become bad."

Xiao Bao quickly lowered his head and carefully looked at his toes to prevent himself from laughing. He held back his laughter for a long time before whispering, “You’re not much better."

Yi Mo said “Oh" and disappeared.

Ji Jiu’s face was red, and he didn’t know whether he was angry because he was teased or something else. He hurried back to the study. As soon as he opened the door, he felt someone in the room. After a moment of hesitation, he asked, “Is it Madam?"

As soon as the words fell, someone lit a wick, and gracefully moved to the table, lit the candle on the table, then turned around, looked at him from a distance, bowed, and called out softly, “Husband."

Ji Jiu stood at the threshold for a moment, then walked over. The couple looked at each other in the dim light of a candle. Ji Jiu took the cloak from the shelf and put it on her, asking, “It’s so late, why don’t you rest?"

The woman pulled her cloak tighter around her, as if she was afraid of the cold, and sat down. After sitting down, she pulled the cloak closer to her body. After wrapping herself tightly, she raised her face and whispered, “I just came to look for my husband, but he was not there, so I went to the other courtyard… The scenery in that courtyard… is really unique." Her voice became lower and lower, almost silent.

Ji Jiuyuan ‘s face, which still had color, suddenly turned pale.

“Husband." The woman called out, her eyes, which were usually full of tenderness, now had a bit more sharpness. “Husband, have you seen it?"

Ji Jiu stood in front of the table, and after calming down, he replied: “What did you see?"

“Of course I saw the gay style and the Longyang habit!" The woman responded crisply, her tone sharper than ever before.

Ji Jiu couldn’t adapt to her like this for a moment , so he stopped talking.

The woman lowered her head, knowing that she had said too much, and quickly slowed down before saying, “When we returned from the garden that year, my husband rejected the daughter of the prime minister and married a daughter from a small family like me. Rumors spread everywhere and the whole city was in turmoil. I never asked, but today I want to ask my husband, why didn’t he marry the daughter of the prime minister, but married me?"

Ji Jiu frowned slightly and replied, “Why not? I want to marry you because I want to marry you."

The woman smiled and said, “My husband lied."

“Um?"

“My husband once said that we must never make peace with the Prime Minister. As long as the Ji family prospers, we will oppose him." The woman said, “My husband is worried that marrying the Prime Minister’s daughter will bring disaster. Moreover, because my husband is arrogant, he doesn’t like their talk, so he wants to do it for them to see, so he insists on marrying me despite the resistance."

Ji Jiu raised his eyebrows, and although he did not nod, he did not shake his head either. In fact, it was true. The emperor was in power, and the court and the opposition were divided into two major factions, fighting each other. The emperor was watching from a high position, not worried. As long as he grasped the right measure, the country would still be peaceful and the people would be safe. If the Ji family, which held a large number of troops, married Chen Xiangguo, the two factions would become one party, and the emperor would be unable to sleep and eat, and then both families would not be able to escape a bloodbath. So he rejected the Chen family’s marriage proposal and only married the daughter of a small family who was unknown .

Although they were from a small family, their ancestors had been officials and nobles, but unfortunately they fell into poverty and lived in a dilapidated old house. He insisted on marrying her home, and although people talked about his improper family background, he didn’t think it was a bad thing. If he was afraid of people’s talk, he would not be Ji Jiu. He had to show this attitude to those who should see it – he, Ji Jiu, would rather marry a beautiful girl from a humble family than the daughter of a prime minister! From then on, a new hatred was added to the old grudge between the Ji and Chen families. The emperor was happy to hear about this, and even came out to smooth things over. He personally arranged a marriage for the young lady of the Chen family and gave her many gifts. The Chen family held a magnificent wedding banquet.

Compared with the simple wedding banquet on the day Ji Jiu got married and the ten loads of dowry that the bride’s family could barely scrape together, this was so much more magnificent .

Ji Jiu thought of the past, his expression relaxed a little, and he smiled. The woman looked at him, smiled too, and whispered: “In my eyes, my husband is a man of integrity, fearless, not to mention rumors? Now, my husband is going to use the momentum he showed when he married me to announce to the world – General Ji is no longer a man?!" When she said this, her tone became heavier, and she was extremely angry.

“After three years of marriage, I have said that if you are lonely outside and you like a girl from another family, you only need to say a word and I will never stop you. I will let her serve you well and treat her like a sister when she comes home. If you don’t want it, don’t mention it again." Madam stood up and said word by word, “If you really like her, even if you marry ten or eight of them, I will treat them well and keep our family stable so that you don’t have to worry. But he is a man. How can I let him live in the inner courtyard? How can I treat him like a sister? How can I take him to face relatives and friends? How can I lead him to worship the ancestors?!"

The last sentence was almost hysterical. The fingers that were holding the handkerchief were all white, and the emerald blue silk handkerchief was creased by the force of the clenching.

Ji Jiu stood there motionless.

There was no expression on his face. He just stood there like a rock, not moving at all despite the wind and rain.

In the face of his wife’s rage, his calmness seemed strange and unpredictable, his eyes were deep, like a cold pond that had been cold for thousands of years , taking in all of his wife’s anger and intensity without any response.

The woman suddenly lost her voice in the face of such strange calmness. After venting her rage, what remained was fear of this cold, rock-like man. She respected him, from beginning to end, just as she loved him.

The relationship between them started with respect, and then turned into love.

Once something happens, awe always prevails in the end.

After an unknown amount of time, the lamp on the table popped with a “beep", which suddenly deafened the ears in the dead silence. The lady was startled for a moment, and when she met the pair of extremely dark eyes, she subconsciously called out, “Husband?"

Ji Jiu looked at her, his face still calm, but in fact his heart had already been stirred by huge waves. It was precisely because the waves were too big that soaked him to the face that he became calmer.

slightly hoarse due to the long silence , and said lightly: “You think too much."

The lady was stunned for a moment.

“What did you see tonight?" Ji Jiu turned his eyes away and looked at the flames burning silently on the table, whispering: “I stayed in the room the whole time tonight and didn’t go anywhere."

The lady remained there in a daze, not saying a word.

“It’s cold, you came to bring me some fresh soup, you just arrived." Ji Jiu glanced at the cold porcelain bowl on the table and smiled slightly, “You, didn’t see anything."

Turning his head, he met the woman’s gaze again, his tone heavier, which was both a promise and a hint of anger, “You told a story. It was an absurd story that could never have happened. Nothing happened, ma’am, do you understand?" His tone emphasized the word “understand".

The lady came back to her senses and heard it clearly. She paused for a moment, nodded and said, “I understand." She then said, “I feel relieved when my husband says so."

“It’s late, madam, go back and get some rest." Ji Jiu said, his tone calm and as light as water, stating the facts without any concern, and without room for refusal or discussion.

The lady stood for a moment, turned around to collect the porcelain bowl on the table, and said softly, “Since your husband has drunk the soup, you should rest early."

The door opened and closed again. The lady splashed the cold soup in the bowl outside the door. The sound of splashing water seemed to remind the person inside that once a word is spoken, it is like spilled water. Once a promise is made, it must be fulfilled.

bed with an expressionless face . Just as he covered himself with the quilt, a person stood beside the bed, and his shadow was cast on the bedspread, forming a long black line.

Ji Jiu closed his eyes and calmly said two words: Get out.
