Snake Encounter 2·21

————————————————

There is a mountain a hundred miles away from the imperial city, surrounded by green water. Because it is winter, the rice fields at the foot of the mountain are barren. The Ji family’s ancestral tomb is at the foot of this mountain.

Ji Jiu said that he had been mourning for his father for three years, and moved out of the general’s mansion, living alone in a simple courtyard at the foot of the mountain. Only Shen Jue was by his side to take care of him and block all the visitors who came to visit him.

He rarely traveled and stayed indoors all day long. No one knew what he was doing. Even the emperor did not mention him in court, as if he wanted to erase this person from the court.

The old Prime Minister Chen was dismissed from his title , the Chen family has fallen, and only the Ji family is left. Now that General Ji has left, Ji Jiu is in mourning and not seeing guests. The emperor’s attitude is also intriguing. It seems that the Ji family tree has already fallen. There were originally two big trees in the court, one of which has already fallen, and the other is also in a state of decline. For a while, no one could understand what the emperor wanted to do, so everyone had to be in danger, and all the grass and trees were crouching.

Outside the court, Ji Jiu went to his father’s grave to pay homage every day. After returning to the house, he spent the whole day with books. With Shen Jue serving him, he felt safe. Shen Jue stayed with him every day, watching the sunrise and sunset. They only talked a few words all day, but he didn’t seem bored. It seemed that no matter what kind of life he was in, he could deal with it calmly, and he had a sense of taking things as they come. Because of his personality, Ji Jiu relied on him more and more, and did not avoid him when handling affairs. Sometimes, he would even talk to him about things in his previous life. But they didn’t talk deeply. Ji Jiu didn’t want him to think of him as Shen Qingxuan.

Although in his heart, Ji Jiu is willing to be his father.

After dinner, Shen Jue cleared the dishes on the table. Ji Jiu rinsed his mouth, strolled in the yard for a while, and went back to the house, leaning against the window to read. After Shen Jue finished his work, he sat under the window, leaning against the railing to bask in the sun. There was only an open window between the two of them. Ji Jiu was reading a book while talking in a low voice, as if he was talking to himself, or to Shen Jue outside the window. Shen Jue listened and answered . This was an ordinary afternoon.

The conversation suddenly stopped. Shen Jue tilted his head, listened at the gate for a while, and said, “Dad, someone is coming from the palace."

Ji Jiu hummed, not even bothering to lift his eyelids, and said, “Send him away."

“Will they be sent away from the palace as well?" Shen Jue asked again.

“Send away those who are looking for me," Ji Jiu raised his eyes, as if smiling, but not, and said, “Those who are looking for you, you decide for yourself."

Shen Jue wanted to ask why the man in the palace wanted to see him, but suddenly stopped, remembering that he seemed to have some “story" with the emperor two years ago, so he kept silent. After waiting for a while, the footsteps were almost at the door, and then he said to Ji Jiu: “Dad, it shouldn’t be for me."

Ji Jiu said, “Not necessarily." The ambiguous words were used in a firm tone. Turning a page, Ji Jiu added, “I know him better than you do."

There was a knock on the gate at this moment, and Shen Jue went to open it doubtfully.

Ji Jiu waited calmly until Shen Jue came back and asked for his leave with a strange look on his face. Ji Jiu said, “Go ahead."

Shen Jue was about to leave when Ji Jiu added calmly, “Take care of yourself."

Shen Jue stopped, turned back, stood in front of Ji Jiu, and asked seriously: “Dad, do you think I should go or not?"

Ji Jiu said: “Do you think you should go or not?"

Shen Jue was choked by this backhand attack and couldn’t speak. After a long while, he said, “I don’t hate him."

Ji Jiu put down the book, but asked an unrelated question: “Why don’t you practice Taoism?"

“If you can’t let it go, then don’t practice." Shen Jue replied quickly, “Otherwise you will go astray."

“What can’t you let go of?" Ji Jiu asked again.

Shen Jue said: “I can’t let go of happiness."

“Are you happy?" Ji Jiu was stunned when he heard that, and then asked, “You waste your time every day accompanying me in this pursuit of fame and fortune, how can you be happy?"

“I feel happy and can’t let go of wasting time like this. That’s why I don’t practice." Shen Jue smiled, revealing his two fangs: “Dad, do you think life is short and becoming an immortal means transcendence, so you are worried that I will fall into it? But I think that the process of becoming an immortal is too long. Watching the sun rise and the moon set with nothing to do is not as good as a short period of happy time. Dad, this kind of thing is like drinking water." He only knows his own warmth and coldness.

Ji Jiu was silent for a moment, then waved his hand and said, “Go ahead." Shen Jue walked again. After two steps, he heard Ji Jiu say behind him, “He is suspicious and fickle. No one has dared to restrain him over the years, so he has become more and more ruthless. But he has never made a mistake. He is a true emperor. You should know that emperors are unemotional."

Shen Jue nodded, “I know."

Ji Jiu lowered his eyes and looked at the sunlight spreading under the window, which was so bright that it was blinding. He continued, “It is said that among wild animals, only wolves spend their entire lives with only one partner and never abandon it. If you also want to wait until he is gone and then look for him for several lifetimes , then don’t go."

Shen Jue stood there for a moment and said, “If that day comes, I will destroy my own cultivation, drink Meng Po soup, and reincarnate again, and never suffer for her again." After saying that, he walked away without waiting for Ji Jiu’s reaction.

Ji Jiu was stunned on the spot, like a stone statue or a wooden sculpture, unable to move his whole body because of these words.

So resolute, so straightforward. Not hesitating to self-destruct. This was the only choice for the demon .

Humans and demons should not have met in the beginning, nor should they have fallen in love. Otherwise, no matter how they go, they will have different paths.

After a long time, Ji Jiu came to his senses and stared blankly at the scenery outside the window. He unconsciously reached out and took out the beads on his chest, rubbed them for a while, and finally asked, “Where are you?"

The voice was very low, and the question was asked softly, like a breeze brushing against the ear. Two years later, the snake disappeared after waking up, without a greeting or meeting him. It disappeared without a trace, as if it had never appeared.

So… where?

Did his Taoism also get ruined, and after drinking Meng Po’s soup , he was reincarnated and no longer suffered?

Is it that you are so hurt that you cannot redeem yourself and have to break up?

Ji Jiu thought, no. With such a bad temper, how could he do such a stupid thing? Feeling a little panic in his heart, Ji Jiu clenched the red beads nervously.

The blood-colored bead flashed slightly between his fingers, and then the sound of wind blew. Ji Jiu loosened his hand and saw a figure emerging from the shadow under the locust tree outside the window. The figure was wearing a wide robe with large sleeves, with loose black hair, and standing with his hands behind his back.

As if it had always been there.

Ji Jiu uttered “ah", short and flustered, but his expression was much more relaxed. He looked at him, but didn’t know what to say.

Yi Mo said, “I didn’t leave." As he spoke, he walked closer, and looked in through a window, as if he knew what he was thinking, and said, “Shen Jue is a wolf and a human. He has only a hundred years of Taoism. Even if he destroys it, it doesn’t matter. At most, he will become a mortal. If I destroy my Taoism, I will be an ordinary long snake in the mountains, unable to understand human language and human hearts, no different from animals." After a pause, he smiled and said, “Maybe I will be eaten by birds of prey."

Ji Jiu’s face turned pale, and he threw the book in his hand at him and said, “Shut up."

Yi Mo took the book he threw at him and asked, “Are you scared?"

Ji Jiu turned his face away and snorted coldly, “If you want to destroy your own cultivation, wait until I’m dead before destroying it, so that I won’t be burdened with debt and have troubles day and night."

Yi Mo passed the book to him through the window and commented without showing any emotion: “You say one thing and mean another."

Ji Jiu looked as if he hadn’t heard anything. When Yi Mo came closer, he said calmly, “It’s the truth."

It was the truth. So this time, Yi Mo had nothing to say to him .

Like Shen Jue before, Yi Mo sat under the window, leaning against the pillar, squinting in the sunlight . Ji Jiu lowered his head to read a book, occasionally glancing over, then quickly retracting his gaze, pretending that there was no one there, reading very “seriously".

While flipping through the book “carefully", Ji Jiu asked, “Where have you been in the past two years?"

Yi Mo closed his eyes, basking in the sun and said lazily, “I’m sleeping."

“Haven’t you gotten enough sleep in three months? Do you have to find a place to continue sleeping after waking up?" Ji Jiu didn’t believe it.

“You have your own things to do, why shouldn’t I sleep?" Yi Mo asked back.

Ji Jiu flipped through the book dully, and after turning over a dozen pages, he continued: “I thought you went back to the mountain to practice."

“Do you think I’m going to his burial place to accompany his bones?" Yi Mo said seriously.

Ji Jiu sneered, “Who you go with is none of my business. Even if you want to turn into bones with him, it’s your wish. I don’t care."

“Do you want to care?" Yi Mo sat up straight, tilted his head and looked at him through the window, “Do you want to?" His tone was serious, but with an indescribable ambiguity, just like the playful talk between lovers.

Ji Jiu flipped through a few more pages of the book, and seeing that he couldn’t calm down any longer, he simply threw the book aside and looked at him straight in the eye, but ignored what he had said before and just said, “Shen Jue went to see the emperor."

Yi Mo knew that he didn’t want to talk about this topic, so he fulfilled his wish and said, “Go ahead." He raised his eyebrows and added, “He won’t suffer any loss."

Ji Jiu pondered the meaning of “not suffering a loss" and understood it in an instant, but he still didn’t believe it. After all, the emperor was the supreme ruler. Even though he liked men, he would not allow others to offend him. How could the emperor tolerate his disobedience?

Just as he was thinking about it, Yi Mo said, “Everyone has his own destiny. It’s useless to think about it."

Everything is just fate. Even if Shen Jue suffers, he deserves this disaster. After more than a hundred years of experience, although the wolf boy is silent, he is a little arrogant. He looks down on ordinary people.

So in the past one hundred years, Yi Mo had never seen him have any thoughts about anyone. Now, it was almost time. Since he had met her, he could not avoid her.

Even if the emperor didn’t summon him to the palace today, Shen Jue would go find him himself in the future.

It is useless to worry about such things. It is better to just watch from the sidelines and help when needed.

In fact, Yi Mo was very confident about Shen Jue. That person was taught by Shen Qingxuan. He always knew what he wanted and what he got. He was always sober and self-sustaining . There would be no big trouble.

Even if there was trouble, Yi Mo felt that he could still protect it. So let him have his fun.

After hearing this, Ji Jiu said no more.

Yi Mo leaned back against the railing , basking in the warm sunshine and returning to peace .

By the evening, Shen Jue had not returned yet. Ji Jiu waited and waited, and as the night went on, he gave up the glimmer of hope. He untied his belt and went to bed. Lying on the bed, he recalled the first time he met him, the scene of him carrying a bag, holding a sword, and arguing with the sergeant in a lukewarm manner, as if it was just yesterday. In the blink of an eye, three years have passed.

The people around him had changed beyond all recognition in the past three years. Dead or alive, except for Shen Jue, there was no one around him.

Hiding in this mountain villa, waiting for the imperial decree to go to war , by then, even he himself would be gone.

Yi Mo lifted the bed curtain and turned over to cover him. Ji Jiu opened his eyes in the darkness and their eyes met, each with bright eyes.

After two years, he was suppressed again. Ji Jiu was not angry. He just threatened in an extremely fierce tone: “You dare!"

It’s not that Yi Mo didn’t dare, but he didn’t want to force him, and he promised Xiao Bao that he wouldn’t force Ji Jiu. After a pause, he lowered his head and kissed him on the face, then turned over and lay on his side.

Ji Jiu breathed a sigh of relief when the weight on his body disappeared. He didn’t say anything to the person lying next to him. He just closed his eyes again, rolled up the quilt and went to sleep.

But the hand was steady, reaching through the gap in the quilt and wrapping its arms around his waist.

Ji Jiu froze for a moment, then relaxed again, without even opening his eyes, and said calmly: “I don’t have what you want."

The hand holding his waist pinched him, Yi Mo lifted the quilt, got into his bed, and asked, “Nothing?"

Ji Jiu remained motionless, and continued to talk to himself: “Although I am not Shen Qingxuan, I am his reincarnation after all. If you want to hold this account against me, I have nothing to say." But he could not be Shen Qingxuan, could not be with him day and night, and could not give up his family business for him. He could not watch his dead ancestors bring shame to his face and turn all his years of hard work into dust.

He couldn’t do all of this. He was Ji Jiu, and he could only be Ji Jiu, and he could only be Ji Jiu.

Ji Jiu has no way out.

“It’s just that I can’t be Shen Qingxuan. Don’t force me to do something I can’t do."

“If you are willing to hold someone who is unwilling to respond, then hold him. I am not a stingy person. You have been looking for more than a hundred years, so I can still give you this little bit."

“Any more than that, I can’t."

Ji Jiu said. After all, for the first time, he told him the truth. He could let go of his past resentment. Although it had not been erased, it was okay to let it go. He was willing to show his sympathy to the snake demon that had been looking for him for so many years, even though it had nothing to do with love.

So, if you want to hug, then hug. Shen Jue said that in summer, Shen Qingxuan would hug that person’s cool body tightly. In winter, he would hug that person’s original form to his heart.

Even though this past attachment was no longer in his memory, Ji Jiu was willing to give it to him.

Who made him the reincarnation of Shen Qingxuan? If he came to find me, I couldn’t hide.

Yi Mo said, “After all, you just don’t want to have sex with me." Stroking the body of his hand, he said, “If you don’t want to, don’t do it." After saying that, he stopped, hugged the person in front of him, and held him motionlessly, without any more inappropriate actions.

Ji Jiu did not struggle. He lay there for a while and whispered as if in a dream, “It looks more likable as a drunk snake." He would never talk nonsense like that. A living person could make him angry to death.

Upon hearing this, Yi Mo felt that Xiaobao was too troublesome.

He was drunk, who dared to do anything to him? They had to pack him in a box and bring him back, and let this man look at a drunk snake, and I don’t know what they did.

Pulling Ji Jiu’s body tightly in his arms, Yi Mo leaned close to his ear and whispered, “You like my original body because I’m a snake and can’t have sex with you, right?"

Ji Jiu stretched out his hand, grabbed Yi Mo’s shoulder, and pushed him away, almost pushing him under the bed. Yi Mo grabbed his hand in time, and the two of them got entangled. Ji Jiu was too lazy to talk nonsense with him, and started with a ruthless move, locking Yi Mo’s neck several times, almost breaking his larynx.

Finally, Yi Mo held the back of his neck, bent down and kissed him . Ji Jiu was caught off guard by his sudden action. His lips were blocked, and he was unable to react for a moment. He then opened his mouth and let him kiss him to his satisfaction.

Who is making trouble?!

Ji Jiu was lying aside, really wanting to go back to his previous life, dig out Shen Qingxuan’s eyeballs, and crush them into mud with his shoe soles .

What kind of eyes do you have to have to be attracted by such a bad thing!
