——————————————————
When Yelu De’e decided to send out his troops, he had already thought that once the army surrounded Fengminggang, they might be counter-encircled. But he calculated the distance and realized that even if the army wanted to encircle him, it would take a day and a night, which was enough time for him to defeat the remaining 10,000 troops on Shanggang and capture the enemy commander alive. So, he decided to take the risk.
However, he did not expect that the troops coming from all directions would arrive so quickly.
The commander-in-chief who had resisted with more than 10,000 troops was not hurt at all, but he himself was completely surrounded.
Yelu De’e began to break out, but he was filled with resentment and hatred. As the Right Sage King , he had to jump into the trap even though he knew it was a trap. Ever since Ji Jiu led his men to Fengminggang, he knew that there were no more conspiracies and tricks. The other side wanted him to surround them. How could he not come? Tens of thousands of soldiers were waiting for him to capture the enemy commander alive, waiting for him to show his skills after being silent and lurking for the past few months. If he didn’t come, he would live in disgrace even if he was alive. He had to come, and he had to come.
So face the fate of being surrounded.
Turning his head to look at his son, Yelu De’er said coldly: “You, kill him!"
Jianfeng refers to the man on the post who is looking down at the battlefield, looking for an opportunity to swoop in. In the dimly lit sky, he has an imposing manner that cannot be ignored, and he is cold and compelling.
Yelu Xiongyan, the son of Yelu De’e, heard the order and knew that this battle was extremely humiliating. He nodded, took out the longbow on his back and pulled the string among the surrounding troops who were struggling to break out.
The arrowhead was silver-white, cold and sharp, with barbs. It was obvious at first glance that it was not an ordinary item.
Killing the enemy commander, even if they could not return victoriously this time, they had accomplished a mission. Moreover, the enemy troops were lightly armed and encircled them. Like his father, Yelu Xiongyan was full of confidence in his elite troops. Even if they suffered casualties, they would definitely be able to break out.
Ji Jiu was observing the confrontation between the two armies. He needed to lead the people on the post to charge down, kill through the enemy’s wall, and join his own troops. From a distance, he saw the most courageous team on the left. The leading general was dressed in armor and holding a spear. He was like a beast rushing into a flock of sheep, biting the enemy’s throat with his sharp claws. It was Shen Jue.
Shen Jue, who was already a lieutenant general, kept looking up during the killing and glanced at the man on the post. He knew that he was waiting for support, so he had to kill him and cut a bloody path so that he could sprint down smoothly and return to a safe position.
When Shen Qingxuan died in his previous life, because he was young, Yi Mo didn’t even let him see his father’s body. He never saw it again until the coffin was put into the coffin and buried.
But he knew that his father was dead.
Dead, gone!
In this life, he is no longer a child and has the ability to share and protect.
Shen Jue felt guilty towards Ji Jiu. That fight should not have happened. If he really regarded him as his father, how could he raise his sword against him? But by the time he figured it out, it was too late.
To this day, he has not even said “I’m sorry". Thinking of this, Shen Jue killed even more fiercely.
Ji Jiu had already chosen the dive location, which was on the left side, where Shen Jue’s team was. He led his men and began to rush down.
in Fengminggang , and the 5,000 men and horses charged down like crazy, creating the illusion of a two-sided attack. The Xiongnu army panicked for a moment, then recovered and fought desperately to stop them. The clanging sound of swords and spears resounded throughout the universe. After Ji Jiu chopped down two people in succession , he paused for a moment with his raised halberd , stagnating in the air. In the melee, he caught a glimpse of the silver-white that was approaching like a flying arrow .
It came straight at his chest, leaving him no chance to dodge. Ji Jiu thought he was doomed, but the red bead on his chest flashed, the arrow broke, and the arrowhead fell to the ground. Ji Jiu was stunned for a moment, but soon came to his senses, turned his head to avoid the scimitar, drew a half arc with his halberd, and killed several more feet away.
Shen Jue finally fought his way out and joined up with Ji Jiu’s troops, and then fought on both sides, completely disrupting the pace of the Hun army on the left side.
At the same time, General Cheng Yu also attacked from the right side, cutting off the possibility of the Hun army surrounding the hill to reunite.
The Xiongnu army was cut into three sections and began to break out separately. The spearmen who took advantage of the chaos to charge into the enemy army knocked down their horses, and the horses fell down along with the riders, tripping the riders behind them. The Xiongnu army fell into chaos and was in a state of defeat.
The battle lasted until noon, when the sun was high in the sky. Most of Yelu De’e’s central army finally broke through the encirclement and fled to the northwest. The strange thing was that in the entire encirclement, only the northwest direction was the weakest. Yelu De’e knew that there was a trick, and he had no time to advance or retreat, so he had to bite the bullet and lead his men to rush to the northwest. The scattered soldiers and horses gathered together along the way. When passing through the Yuetai Valley, war drums suddenly sounded on both sides and horses neighed. The grain officer Shen Hai, dressed in a green robe and Confucian clothes , bowed to him in the midst of heavy guards and shouted: “Youxian King, I have been waiting here for a long time by the order of the marshal!" As the voice fell, countless military flags were erected on the top of the mountain, and the big “Ji" character fluttered in the wind. The archers put feathers on the strings and suddenly let go. Tens of thousands of arrows shot at the bottom of the mountain, and there was a sudden wail at the foot of the mountain.
When Ji Jiu and his men finished encircling the remnants and rushed to Yuetai Valley, Shen Hai came up to them and saluted, saying, “The Right Wise King has rushed over."
Ji Jiu’s voice was hoarse, and he coughed and said, “It’s okay. The Xiongnu cannot be underestimated. It’s right to charge over. Set up camp here tonight. Have the food and grass been delivered?"
“It’s ready."
Ji Jiu looked up at the sky, which was dotted with stars, and was particularly dazzling. He looked for a while before getting off the horse. His eyes were full of bloodshot, and his face was covered with blood stains, so he couldn’t see his original appearance.
After a simple wash, Ji Jiu returned to the military tent, took out a blank memorial, soaked the wolf-hair brush with ink, paused it on the paper for a moment , and wrote the words.
This was probably his last memorial. Ji Jiu finished writing quietly, waited for the ink to dry, closed it and put it aside.
He spread out the paper again and began to write a letter. This was also the last letter he would write in his life. Ji Jiu wrote it very carefully, even more carefully than when he wrote a memorial. But he only used three sheets of paper and finished it in the time it took to write an incense stick.
After the ink dried, Ji Jiu called for someone to come and ordered them to set out that night to present the memorial to the emperor and to deliver the family letter to the mansion, to be received by his wife in person.
After doing all this, Ji Jiu sat back down, drank some water, and said without raising his head: “Why don’t you come out!"
There was no one around him, but he was saying this to everyone around him, so Yi Mo had to show up.
Ji Jiu asked, “How long have you been following me?"
Yi Mo said: “It’s been this month."
Ji Jiu wanted to ask, “You saved me earlier?" But when the words came to his lips, he didn’t ask, because this question was too redundant. After a pause, Ji Jiu said, “You really don’t want to see me die?"
Yi Mo said “hmm".
“Then don’t follow me." Ji Jiu whispered, “I’m going to lead my troops to attack the heartland of the Xiongnu. Once this is done, I should go home."
He said: I should go home.
The body was wrapped in horsehide, carried back home and buried in the ancestral tomb.
Yi Mo was silent for a moment, then replied, “I know."
Ji Jiu stood up, walked to the opposite side of him, and looked him in the eye, “Don’t follow me."
Yi Mo didn’t answer.
Seeing this, Ji Jiu softened his voice and said in a coaxing tone: “Don’t follow me, be obedient."
Yi Mo looked into his eyes for a long time before saying, “Really?"
“Really?" Ji Jiu said. What would happen if he followed? He had to die. If he lived, perhaps the entire Ji family would die as martyrs. Ji Jiu said, “You don’t have to send me off."
This time, Yi Mo agreed and said, “Okay, I won’t send you off."
Ji Jiu wanted to say, I don’t want you to see me die, it’s painful to see me die. But after thinking about it, he didn’t say it. What’s the point of saying it? They are already like this. The future has been drawn. The back and forth in the middle are all in vain. Hate and love are empty, and in the end, they can’t resist separation. After such a long time, Ji Jiu seldom thinks of him. Even if he thinks of him, he is confused. He doesn’t understand why he hated him so much at the beginning, and he doesn’t know why he was so disappointed later.
But he didn’t need to think about it anymore.
When Ji Jiu heard his agreement, he breathed a sigh of relief, nodded, walked aside, and said that he was very tired. After that, he suddenly fell to the ground and fell asleep.
Yi Mo went over and hugged him, knowing that this was the last night with him, but he felt very lonely in his heart. Not sad or painful, but just lonely, an indescribable loneliness, as if there was a void in his heart, and even if he held him tightly in his arms, his body could not fill it.
Yi Mo held him until the sky turned white and the sound of people and horses moving outside the tent became lively.
Ji Jiu also woke up when he heard the noise. He opened his eyes in his arms and stood up. Putting on the heavy armor again, Ji Jiu said, “I should go now." Then he said, “You should go too."
It’s time to disperse.
Yi Mo walked over and asked, “I’ll come find you in the next life, okay?"
Ji Jiu was stunned for a moment, then came back to his senses and asked, “Do you really want to find it? Aren’t you going to become an immortal?"
Yi Mo said “hmm".
Ji Jiu lowered his head, and raised it after a long time, and said: “Then in the next life, come earlier."
Yi Mo said: “Okay."
“Found it, and be nice to me." Ji Jiu said.
“Okay." Yi Mo agreed, “I won’t bully you."
Ji Jiu said, “Okay." Then he leaned over and rubbed his cheek lightly with his dry and cracked lips.
In May of the 15th year of Jianyuan, the army set out to pursue and kill the Xiongnu Right King Yelu De’e for half a year, killing the enemy in the grassland late at night. Yelu De’e and his son were left with only 50 men and horses, and fled west again. General Ji Jiu gave up the pursuit and led his troops across the desert to attack the heartland of the Xiongnu.
The thirty-seven riders who had entered the desert with Ji Jiu played the greatest role at this time. They led their own troops and killed along the way without taking any detours. They chased the tribal leaders all the way, beheaded them, and then continued to kill along the lush grass and water areas.
The final target stopped at the heart of the royal court. At this time, the Great Chanyu had already heard the news and reorganized his troops and horses to be ready for battle at any time.
After escaping the pursuit, Yelu De’er’s son went back to his hometown and served under the Great Khan. When he heard that the army was coming, he prepared two more arrows that night and vowed to avenge his father.
Ji Jiu led his men to kill them overnight. The long journey turned them into hungry ghosts in hell, and they rushed out of the world in the dark night. Yelu Xiongyan hid behind a haystack and saw his father’s murderer clearly.
On the battlefield, Ji Jiu held the halberd horizontally, deflected the scimitar that was coming at him diagonally, and was about to chop at the enemy on the left when he heard Shen Jue suddenly shouting, “Dad!" Ji Jiu turned around to avoid the two scimitars, and the iron handle of the halberd hit the enemy’s chest beside him. At the same time, he saw the cold silver light.
Ji Jiu only felt a chill in his chest, and the light disappeared.
Shen Jue rushed towards the man who shot the arrow from behind the haystack like crazy, and even revealed his true form. The huge black wolf bit off his neck in one bite behind the shadow of the haystack. In Yelu Xiongyan’s dilated pupils, there was only the wolf’s green eyes.
Ji Jiu stood there holding a halberd, and saw everything in the shadow of the haystack . Beside him were his soldiers, who were fighting hard.
The sound of metal and stone gradually faded away. Ji Jiu stood still, thinking of his father and mother. He thought of his mother tapping his forehead and saying, “You are such a heartless child." He thought of him saying to his father in the Japanese army’s tent: If the Huns are defeated, I shall die!
I did it, Ji Jiu thought silently.
A real man’s promise is worth a thousand gold, and he will keep it with his blood and his life!
wet fingers groped for the wine gourd hanging on his waist. Ji Jiu bit open the cork with his teeth and drank from it in big gulps .
The soldiers around him all rushed to the front, advancing further and further. Ji Jiu stood there, watching them go further and further away.
Shen Jue asked in his ear with a choked voice: “Dad, are you okay?"
Ji Jiu said, “Very good." He then said, “Xiao Bao, the rest is up to you." After signing the contract, they agreed to use Qishan as the boundary, stop invading, pay tribute every year, and provide cattle, sheep, horses, etc. Ji Jiu said, “Xiao Bao, go ahead."
This was the only time he called him by his nickname.
Shen Jue gritted his teeth, picked up the spear on the ground, turned around and left.
Ji Jiu drank the wine and stood with his halberd, until his fingers trembled and the wine jug fell to the ground.
Ji Jiu didn’t look down, as everything in front of him was already dark, but he knew that the wine was not finished and was spilled.
What a pity. He thought, and at this moment, the man’s face appeared in his mind.
She is elegant and reserved , unparalleled in the world.
It’s time to go home.
The halberd that he could no longer hold fell to the side, making a long sound. He closed his eyes, and his stubborn body fell down with a bang.
In the seventh month of the eighteenth year of Jianyuan, General Ji Jiu died. In the twelfth month of winter, the soldiers carried his body back, along with the Xiongnu’s surrender letter and contract.
The emperor added the title “Zhong" to him and buried him with the ceremony of a prince, and his title was hereditary.
For the next hundred years, the Huns did not invade again.
